Memorial Weekend - Ogden, Ut Blessing #21 New Spirit From Heaven

Main Reason For Visit
Two week old nephew, Callahan, a beautiful sweet blessing from Heaven.

Some added perks.....

Hanging around with 12 wild and crazy "dangerous" creatures....

Spending some time with mom and sisters......

Visiting the Dinosaur museum and....

Watching a fun parade of dress ups
Cade, Brynn, Blake, Abby, Aliza and Maren

When Sam decided to go to Tropic for Memorial Day Weekend, I thought it would be a great time to visit my sister Kass and meet her 5th child, Callahan in Ogden. What a sweet spirit he is, and a great blessing he is to the family. Before we came home on Monday, we visited Brigham's grave, their 3rd child, who passed away from SMA disease. We were able to watch a photo video of him, shed some tears and remembered what a valiant spirit he is and what he taught us while here on earth for six months.
Mom, Anny and her kids came up and stayed the whole weekend. Mick and Jim were down in Tropic with Sam. FUN FUN! Jenna (my sister) and her daughter Savanna came for Sunday dinner.
I'm so glad we went down. Thanks Kass, for letting all of us invade your home. It was well worth the 8 hour drive!

Blessing #20 Our Piano

BLESSING #20 OUR PIANO
Even though I took lessons for 9 years, I was not given the talent to sight read beautifully. But, with practice, I can play a song pretty good. I enjoy playing when I have time and let the stress leave my fingers. Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful piano recital. Sammy and Aliza have practiced and did a wonderful job. I played a duet with Aliza, we played "We'll bring the World His Truth". We also enjoyed listening to Patrick, Paige, Kyla and Karissa. I hope they all continue with lessons and enjoy playing as much as I do.

A Great Day

It all started by SLEEPING IN! Oh, that felt so good.
We then did some work around the house. Moving rocks in driveway, picking up house and chores.
Then while Sammy and Aliza went to hang at Clint and Amy's....Sam, Jackson, Maren and I went boating/fishing at Cooney. While Maren and I were there, only one fish was caught. Jackson let Maren real it in.
Maren enjoyed driving every once in a while.
Kenny joined us later. Jackson caught 6 more fish after Maren and I left. Sam and Kenny 0.

Blessing #19 Motherhood

Janice and her 9 children..Kathryn, Angela, Rebecca, Jennifer, (Brock, beautiful bride), Aaron, Mom, Joy, Curt, Rhonda and Gary (taken on June 2005 in San Diego. Youngest Bro finally married!!)

Janice and LaRae

What a great honor it is to share motherhood with these exceptional women.

LaRae and her 9 children. Top to bottom...left to right....Steven, Nick, Kenny (finally married), Sam, Clint, Kelli, Dad, Jodi (beautiful bride), Mom, David, Dana, Megan (taken July 2002 in Utah...2 months before LaRae passed away)

Rebecca and her 4 children. Jackson, me, Maren, Sammy and Aliza (taken May 10, 2009 at home)

What a wonderful day I had. My children were very excited to give me there gifts. Aliza gave me hers on Sat. A beautiful fun lava lamp that she made at school. Maren gave me a beautiful homemade heart necklace with a picture she painted and her school picture and name on it. Sammy was up at the crack of dawn with the other kids making pancake and eggs. They were so excited to bring it to me in bed. We had a fun time talking while I was eating. Sam had some roses delivered on Sat. and made a wonderful dinner (pork chops, corn on cob, mashed potatoes and gravy. Very Good!) The kids (mainly Jackson) cleaned the kitchen after we got back from Clint and Amy's. Patrick made a cake and invited us over for dessert. Yummy!
I must say, there were times through out the day where I contemplated being a mother, and was very emotional for different reasons. One....What a BLESSING it is to be a MOTHER to four wonderful children. Two....Am I being the kind of mother Heavenly Father wants me to be. At times I know I'm not the best at it and need to be more patient and not so demanding. I love my children so much and am grateful for their quick forgiveness of my shortcomings.
I LOVE BEING A MOTHER!!!

Field Trip With Jackson

I got to go on another field trip!!!!
A few weeks ago I went to the Museum of the Rockies with Sammy and his biology class to learned more about Dinosaurs.
This time I went with Jackson to the Little Big Horn Battlefield near Hardin, MT. I was the chaperon for these five boys. Lane, Jackson, Trever, Dalton and Bayne. They were pretty good for the most part. I had to tell them to walk a lot and to calm down a few time, but over all they were great. Probably because........

They were learning about a great and famous war. Known more for Custer's Last Stand.
We mainly were at a top of a hill and could see for miles in all directions. The Park's Guide was pointing in every direction with the positions of different groups of soldiers. See those mountains way in the back?? Some came from way over there. They were trying to surround the Northern Cheyenne and the Sioux Indians because they wouldn't sign a treaty and go to a reservation.
There was a great battle fought right where these kids are standing. They're not there now, but shell casings were found all over this area from the soldiers defending themselves from the Indians. See, the army didn't know that they were surprise attacking 10,000 Indians. Sitting Bull the chief had a vision and gathered all the different tribes together to have a meeting a few days before the attack.

The soldiers were buried where they died and later the government buried them else where and left this white marker in their memory.
This hill is in a different part of the battlefield. This is where Custer and his group were, and were slaughtered. Nobody knows what happened here, they just found them all on this hill later. General Custer was in the middle of his men.
While traveling to the top of the hill, we saw some wild horses. Jackson thought that was pretty cool.

This is General Custer's uniform that he wore. Jackson bought a hat that goes with this uniform. He's pretty happy with his purchase.

Thanks for letting me come Jackson. I love to experience these times with my kids as much as I possibly can. I'm still surprised Sammy asked me to go with him, he being in HIGH SCHOOL and all :)

Blessing #18 My Mom

This week, the 4th, was my mother's birthday. It is also very close to Mother's Day. So of course my BLESSING for this week is MY MOM.
She has always been there for me, through the good times and the bad. She has taught me all I know. She has been the best example to me and my children. She is selfless, caring, always thinking of others, is strong in the gospel and does not question or waver. She is always looking for the positive and has a song in her heart. She is a wonderful grandmother to ALL 38 1/2 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, she makes sure she lets them know they are special to her.

Happy Birthday and Mother's Day Mom, I Love You!!!

The above picture was taken while we were at Bryce Canyon last October. Her MTC companion (Elsie) and granddaughter(Anna) came to visit from England. She was still recovering from her eye surgery in February, and was determined to feel good while they were there for a couple of weeks. She had the best attitude and was blessed with health and strength while they were there.

Blessing #17 Healthy Foods

I have been trying to loose a little weight, and have been eating a little less and eating a lot more healthy. Exercise is a part of it as well. I am so BLESSED to have HEALTHY FOODS to eat. It is amazing how much better I feel and more energy I have. There were two days when I was doing a little baking, and gave in to have a few pieces of cake. I felt so yucky afterwards, I didn't even enjoy it. I am thankful for the guidance we have on healthy eating.

New Pets?

After Jackson and Sam finished the service project, they went out into the hills (Pryor Mnts.) to shoot Jackson's new arrows, and look around. They came home with two friends. Horny Toads. Apparently they eat ants and may not last more than a year in captivity. They are very interesting creatures, but I think they need to go back to their home and family. What do you think?

JAM AND BREAD

Saturday Morning.....
Sammy at a birthday party....
Sam and Jackson at a Stake service project....
What are we girls to do?????
MAKE SOME JAM AND BREAD!!!While I made up the dough, the girls mashed the strawberries.
When I was a little girl, and would help my mom make bread, she would let us take a little dough and make a cinnamon roll. My girls were very excited to make one when I told them this story.
YUMMY!!!

We made three batches of jam and five loaves of bread. While making these, we watched Princess Bride and Whats up Doc. We had such a fun time BONDING. With the girls help it went so much faster. Thanks girls! Love you.
