Sam and Surgery

Sam, Sam, Sam
It all started while he was down in Tropic.  Sam and Clint went down there for Memorial Day and took their dirt bike motorcycles.  They were ready for some fun!
They got there Friday evening, went golfing Sat. morning, met up with Jim and Mick (BIL), and went out in the hills with their bikes.  On their way back to the truck, Sam hit a ravine.  The bike stopped and Sam flew over the handle bars.

just out of surgery

I guess he dislocated his thumb, but he thought he could tape it up and it would get better.  After getting back home, and Trying to work for two days, he finally called an Orthopedic Surgeon friend in Powell, WY.  He called at about 10:30 a.m. to ask some questions....What to expect, how long before it heals, etc.  Dr. Hansen said that he gets out of surgery at 2:30, to be down by then, not to eat or drink anything, because it sounds like surgery.
nurse Kim, walking us out

So, Sam asks if I could go down with him.  Dr looked at it, said Yes, it needs surgery, we need to attach the ligaments back to the bone, or it would never heal.  So, he is out of commission for about a week, he has to slowly get back to a full schedule.  But what a blessing it was to have a Dr. able to do surgery 5 min. after we got in there.  We left Laurel at 1:00 and were back by 8:00.  He is anxious to get back to work already.

Life is too short to have too many things like this happen, so hopefully there isn't anything like this is the future. Time does heal trauma injuries much of the time. Lo Siento, Sam!

Oh Sam. I wish Becca put a video of you flying over the handle bars on her blog. Darn. I am glad that there are good Dr.'s that can put ligaments back. Do you have those hands insured?
