This was Aliza's first year at girls camp. She was so excited and had a wonderful time. Only the Young Women's President and the two camp leaders were able to go. I was sad I couldn't go with Aliza. I was told however, that the councilors could go the last evening for the testimony meeting, so Kristie Anderson and I decided to go up on Thursday. It is about a two hour drive.
We got there in time to have dinner with the girls and hang out at the camp for just a little bit before the big get together. After that we gathered together for our ward testimony meeting. Non of our Bishopric were able to come up, so one of the High Councilor's sat in with us.
The testimony meeting was amazing, that is the one reason I wanted to go. Each of the girls had a stronger testimony at the end of the week, that is for sure. It was so late (almost 11:00), that the leaders and the girls said we should stay the night since it was so late. (Kristie and I thought we might stay the night anyway when we first got there. :)
So, the girls that slept in the circus looking tent above, went over to the big white tent below, there was an extra cot and Kyla gave up her cot, so we each had a cot. I happen to have two airplane pillows in the car and a bunch of big towels and a blanket and a couple of the girls gave up some of their blankets so we could keep warm. It was an ok sleep. Not the best, but it was fun.
We awoke, I snuck Aliza's toothbrush to brush my teeth and combed my hair and didn't look half bad. Yes, we had the same clothes on as before, but oh well. We ate a great breakfast and got ready and helped the girls pack up to leave.
I so enjoyed being around the girls and their enthusiasm even after camping for a week.
