Here is my sweet girl Aliza, who turned 8 years old last month. She was going to get baptized a week after her birthday in February, but after finding out her grandmother had to have surgery the same week, she decided to wait until she also could come. Sunday March 16, 2008 @ 4:00 p.m. was the day of her baptism. She was so excited. She was telling everyone she came across that she was going to get baptized. Lots of family came from near and far. Grandma gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. aunt Anny and uncle Jim with their clan of 5, and aunt Kass and uncle Mick with their 3 drove clear from Utah. Aunt Dana and uncle Tony and their 3, aunt Kelli and uncle Mike and Hunter, came from Wyoming. Uncle Kenny and aunt Jodi and Sedley came home early from a trip to make it (aunt Jodi gave Aliza a white towel with her name embroidered on it to dry off with after her baptism). Uncle Clint and aunt Amy also made sure they were home from their trip to Louisiana (they drove 28 hours straight). Paige, Aliza's cousin who is 10 gave the talk on baptism. Aliza gave the opening prayer and her cousin Karissa who is 7 gave the closing prayer. Aunt Kass played the piano and aunt Amy lead the music. The Bishop and one of his counselors were there and some other friends from the ward. It was a very special day for Aliza.
This dress was borrowed from aunt Amy. Paige and Kyla were baptized in this dress as well. We are very grateful to Amy for letting us borrow it.

Sam baptized and confirmed Aliza a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is such a great blessing to have the priesthood in our home!

The next day!!!! Braces off!!!!
Aliza has been in a retainer and braces for a little over a year. We needed to make more room in her mouth for her permanent teeth to come in. A couple of weeks ago the ortho. told us her braces could come off. She was sooooo excited. They couldn't get her in until a day after her baptism, but she didn't care. She still has to wear a retainer for a while, but that is better than braces.

What a privilege it was to be a part of this exciting time! (A little preview of our year w/ Abs in 2009-minus the braces part!) I love how you wrote about everyone who was there and the circumstances behind them getting there. Love ya & thanks for the fun weekend-even though you were tired!
That was such a special day. I am so glad we were able to make it! Thank you again for the great time last week. You asked me what my favorite times were, my massage and our fun dinner with you and Sam. The temple was a highlight also:) Aliza is such a beautiful girl and I love her sweet personality. You're doing a great job mama!
I like you you included all the little details of the day. You know we ARE getting older so it's good to write these things down while we still remember them.
Rebecca, It was a very spiritual experience for me to be at Aliza's baptism. Not many little girls would wait for their grandma. I love reading your blog. It is very thorough and entertaining as well as spiritual. Keep up the good work. You are awesome!! Mother
