The past couple of weeks I have been doing a little bottling. First time ever!!! Laurel, my friend, was there to show me how.
She taught me a trick, that I'm sure most caners are well aware, of how to get the peel off peaches quick. It is called BLANCHING. Put about 7 peaches in boiling water, boil for 20-30 seconds. Then with a strainer spoon, put immediately in ice cold water. Then.....WaLa, the skin peels right off. I was amazed.

I cut a few peaches and froze them fresh, and bottled the rest. I bought a couple of boxes of apples too and bottled apple pie filling. I'm excited to make some apple pie now. I wasn't sure how the kids would like the peaches, but they all loved them, and said they will never eat store bought again. I guess I'll be purchasing a canning pan now. I'm excited to learn and do more next year.

Wow, you have been busy! Learn everything you need to know then come down and teach your sisters next year. They look yummy.
I am very impressed! Canning was going above & beyond w/ my garden veggies. . .but you proved me wrong & you will be helping us next year right? I hate store-bought canned fruit because we grew up on the yummy stuff!
