I had the privilege of going with Aliza's class to the PUMPKIN PATCH!
Hannah and Aliza
It was a fun time, but also great, because it was at Aliza's teacher's farm. Every year they have their pumpkin patch, along with other veggies. They have the big red barn and everything. We got there at 9:30, found a pumpkin, and split up into six different groups for different activities: bowling w/ pumpkins, reading a play (they each had parts), deciding what veggies would float or sink, measuring a vine from root to pumpkin stem (Aliza and I measured one 14 feet long), determining how many tiles it would take to even the scale on certain gourds, and learning about the world (they would latter make a globe out of their pumpkins. There were about 5 other 3rd grade classes there as well. It was a great time for the kids. Mrs. Johnson said she was up at 5:00 getting things ready. What a dedicated teacher.

Sounds like so much fun and truly a dedicated teacher. I can't believe the pumpkin stem measured 14 feet long. WOW!!
I am very impressed with your teacher and her efforts to teach the children in such a real way and all the time making it so fun. That is great that you were able to go along, Rebecca. Remember all the pumpkins we used to grow? Some were pretty big, too!
Some of those pumpkins are huge! 5 a.m.? Wow, yes I would say a dedicated teacher indead! Sounds like they had a great time!
